Sylvie Gadmer Tiến discovered documentary filmmaking with the Ateliers Varan in 1996 during a mission to Cambodia. Since 2004 she has co-founded and been in charge of the Ateliers Varan Vietnam, subsequently directed by André Van In, before Varan Vietnam was founded by former workshop participants.
