From Limits to Freedom – The Creative Journey of People with Disabilities

From Limits to Freedom – The Creative Journey of People with Disabilities

• Time:3:30 PM – 5:30 PM, Sunday, November 16, 2025
• Location: Goethe-Institut Hanoi, 58 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi
• Register at: https://forms.gle/bK5vp7u2UHNhVBQh7

Goethe-Institut Hanoi, DNXH Cham Vao Xanh, and Varan Vietnam jointly organize a discussion on the topic “From Limits to Freedom – The Creative Journey of People with Disabilities”.

The discussion will open dialogues on the participation of people with disabilities in the arts and reconsider the relationship between art and disability in a more balanced perspective.

It will address what limits currently prevent people with disabilities from engaging in the arts and further restrict their roles within certain “roles.”

Conversely, it will explore what positive impacts art can bring to people with disabilities.

The discussion will feature representatives from Varan Vietnam.

Many documentaries produced by Varan have featured stories about people with disabilities. The discussion will also raise questions and reflections on what to consider when portraying people with disabilities on screen, as well as collaboration between filmmakers and people with disabilities.

On a broader scale, it will consider how to understand and create an environment ensuring inclusivity in the creative process and fostering a free environment for people with disabilities to participate in the arts.

Within the framework of the discussion, Goethe-Institut Hanoi, DNXH Cham Vao Xanh, and Varan Vietnam will screen documentaries about the lives of people with disabilities. These documentaries were produced during Varan Vietnam’s workshops as well as by Varan Vietnam.

The discussion “From Limits to Freedom – The Creative Journey of People with Disabilities” is part of the “Le La 2025” exhibition, initiated by DNXH Cham Vao Xanh, with support and partnership from Goethe-Institut Hanoi and Varan Vietnam.
