Director Nguyen Thi Tham (born in 1984) is a documentary filmmaker known for her direct cinema style. She is best recognized for her acclaimed feature documentary “The Last Journey of Madam Phung.”

Tham graduated from the Faculty of Film Directing at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema. She later attended directing and documentary editing courses with Ateliers Varan (France), and subsequently co-founded Varan Vietnam with fellow filmmakers who had completed Varan training programs in Vietnam. Varan Vietnam has since produced notable works such as Madam Phung’s Last Journey, Finding Phong, Pomelo, and Children of the Mist.

Her second feature documentary, “Vietnam, where are you?” – was released in cinemas in October 2024.

Tham has also been involved in teaching documentary filmmaking with Toa Tau, TPD (Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents), and has served as organizer and co-instructor for Varan Vietnam workshops in 2016 and 2020.
She currently lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City as a producer and director.
