Le Dinh Tuyen is an editor and reporter for Thanh Nien Newspaper, covering environmental issues in Vietnam and the Mekong region. His main focuses include water resources, fisheries, riparian community livelihoods, saltwater intrusion, climate change, and pollution.
In 2019, Tuyen made his filmmaking debut as the scriptwriter and producer of the 8-minute short film “Drifting”. The film won First Prize at the 2019 Vertical Digital Short Film Contest held by the International Francophone Institute (IFI). Subsequently, Drifting won the Grand Prix at the Courant 3D Angoulême Short Film Festival 2019, organized by the Prenez Du Relief Association in France.
In 2020, Tuyen participated in a training course for documentary directors organized by Varan Vietnam in Can Tho City, centered on the theme “Water and the Mekong Delta.”
Tuyen’s graduation film, “The Last Tide on Khuong Islet”, tells the story of Mrs. Le and her family, the last residents living in a “suspended planning area” on Khuong Islet. Within a few weeks, they must relocate to the other side of the river to make way for luxury villa and resort projects to be built on the land where their precarious home stands.
