Phạm Đức Thắng originally an architect with a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from France, turned to documentary filmmaking to tell stories through visuals.

He began his journey at the Varan Cantho Film Workshop in 2020, where he directed the short film “Sân chơi của Bảo”. This work captures the changing urban riverside landscape and the challenges of finding new livelihoods on ancestral land. In 2024, he honed his editing skills at the Varan Hanoi workshop, contributing to “Thiên Ân” – directed by Dương Trịnh Hà Đăng.

As an university lecturer in Urbanism and Architecture, Thắng bridges architectural design and documentary filmmaking, bringing diverse and insightful perspectives to interdisciplinary projects.
